Privacy Policy

tracc.eu is a sim racing community website. This privacy policy explains what happens to data when you visit tracc.eu. It also explains what does not happen. We have deliberately kept both the data we process and this policy as lean as the site itself: we run no advertising, no tracking cookies, no newsletters, and no user accounts.

2. What this website is

tracc.eu is a statically generated website. It publishes information about our sim racing championships, hosts simple tools (such as the championship generator and the fuel calculator), and links to our Discord community and to sign-up pages on SimGrid and RaceApp. The site does not require registration, does not offer user accounts, and does not ask you for personal data through any form.

3. Hosting and server log files

The website is hosted by Infomaniak on servers located in Switzerland. When you access tracc.eu, the hosting provider automatically processes technical log data that is necessary to deliver the website. This may include:

  • your IP address,
  • the date and time of access,
  • the page requested and the referrer URL,
  • your browser type and version, operating system, and device type.

This processing is carried out on the basis of our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) in the secure and reliable delivery of the website and the detection of and defence against technical attacks. Log data is stored only for as long as necessary for these purposes, in accordance with our hosting provider’s retention settings, and is not merged with other data or used for marketing.

The transfer of this data to our host in Switzerland is lawful: the European Commission has recognised Switzerland as a third country offering an adequate level of data protection.

4. Website analytics (Umami)

We use Umami (Umami Software, Inc., cloud service) for privacy-friendly, cookieless usage analytics. The Umami Cloud account for this website is set to the EU data region, so analytics data is stored within the European Union.

  • What is collected: pages visited, referrer URL, browser, operating system, device type, language, and approximate location (country, region, city).
  • How location is determined: your IP address is used briefly to look up your approximate location, but the IP address itself is never stored.
  • Visitor identification: visitors are counted using an anonymous session identifier that expires after 30 minutes of inactivity. No cookies and no persistent identifiers are used, and visitors are never tracked across websites.
  • Legal basis: legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) in understanding how the website is used, in order to improve it.
  • Retention: analytics data is retained in accordance with the retention settings of our Umami Cloud plan.
  • Processor: Umami acts as our processor under a Data Processing Agreement. See umami.is/dpa and umami.is/privacy.

5. Our tools: no personal data

The interactive tools on tracc.eu, such as the championship generator and the fuel calculator, operate on non-personal data only:

  • They generate or compute data based on information from video games (tracks, cars, weather, event schedules, lap times, fuel consumption, and similar).
  • They do not ask for, require, or process any user input that could identify you. This means no names, no email addresses and no account data.
  • All computation happens server-side. “Remembering” your inputs works by encoding them in the URL when you share a result. Nothing is stored on your device and no profile is created.

Because no personal data is processed by these tools, the GDPR does not apply to them.

6. Community and championships: Discord, SimGrid and RaceApp

tracc.eu organises sim racing championships together with third-party services. Please read their own privacy policies as well:

  • SimGrid (thesimgrid.com): all registrations, event sign-ups, results, and driver profiles for championships hosted on SimGrid are handled by SimGrid. tracc.eu links to these events but does not collect registration data itself. For visits to and registrations on SimGrid, SimGrid is the controller. See their privacy policy on thesimgrid.com.
  • RaceApp (raceapp.eu): for championships based on RaceRoom Racing Experience, registrations, driver profiles (including the in-game name you provide at registration), event sign-ups and results are handled by RaceApp. tracc.eu links to these events but does not collect registration data itself. For visits to and registrations on RaceApp, RaceApp is the controller. See their privacy policy on raceapp.eu.
  • Discord (discord.com): our community operates a Discord server. Communications, roles, and moderation data on Discord are processed by Discord Inc. as a controller under their own privacy policy. When you join our server, Discord’s terms apply.

Personal data we process in connection with championships:

  • For some events (for example the VTuber racing series), participation requires a short verification on our Discord server. In that case we ask you for: links to your social media or streaming/video channels as proof that you are an active VTuber, the name you use on the respective event platform, and your desired car and race number.
  • Purpose: to verify eligibility, manually add you to the championship, and organise the event.
  • Legal basis: our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) in organising the championships and ensuring their eligibility rules are met.
  • Retention: this information is kept for the duration of the respective season and deleted afterwards, unless you ask us to delete it sooner.

7. Contact by email or Discord

If you contact us by email or via Discord, we process the information you provide (such as your name, email address or Discord handle, and the content of your message) solely to respond to and handle your enquiry. The legal basis is our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Where you contact us about championship participation, the legal basis is the performance of that arrangement. We delete enquiries once they are resolved, unless we are required to keep records.

8. Links to social media

tracc.eu links to our presences on YouTube, Patreon, Instagram, and Bluesky. These are plain links: no data is transmitted to these providers when you visit tracc.eu, and no social plugins are embedded. If you click a link, you leave our website and the privacy policy of the respective platform applies.

9. Cookies

tracc.eu uses no cookies and no comparable browser storage (no localStorage, no fingerprinting, no tracking pixels). That is why you will not find a cookie banner on this website. Nothing is stored on your device when you browse tracc.eu.

10. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have, at any time and free of charge, the right to:

  • access your personal data and receive a copy (Art. 15 GDPR),
  • rectification of inaccurate data (Art. 16 GDPR),
  • erasure of your data (Art. 17 GDPR),
  • restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR),
  • data portability (Art. 20 GDPR),
  • object to processing carried out on the basis of legitimate interests (Art. 21 GDPR),
  • withdraw consent at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal (Art. 7 GDPR).

To exercise these rights, contact us at julian.strasser@tracc.eu. Please note that much of the processing described above (analytics, tools) is deliberately anonymous, so we may not be able to attribute records to you individually. In that case, those records do not concern personal data at all.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. The competent authority for Austria is the Austrian Data Protection Authority (Datenschutzbehörde), Wickenburggasse 8, 1080 Vienna, Austria.

11. Automated decision-making and profiling

We do not carry out automated decision-making or profiling within the meaning of Art. 22 GDPR. We do not build user profiles and we do not sell, share, or transfer visitor data to advertisers or any other third parties beyond the services described in this policy.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes to the website or the law. The current version is always available on this page.
